Anderson University: Adjunct positions
Anderson University seeks qualified individuals to provide adjunct instruction in music beginning in fall 2010. The university will give strongest consideration to individuals who can teach in two or more of the following areas:
- Applied cello
- Coaching Chamber Ensembles
- String Methods
- Music Theory 1 & 2
- Fine Arts Appreciation
- Introductory Music Technology
Qualifications include a master’s degree in the appropriate field or equivalent professional experience. Significant teaching experience is desired. For the methods class, public school experience is strongly desired. Send email to Dr. Richard A. Williamson, Chair, Department of Music.
Charleston Academy of Music: Orchestra Program Director
The Orchestra Program Director (OPD) will become the liaison for the overall success, growth, and progress of the Orchestra Program ("Kidzymphony") for the Charleston Academy of Music. An orchestral program for young children, Kidzymphony is only comparable to few other projects in the US. It is modeled after Venezuela’s Sistema, a massive program that shows the social benefits of learning music in a group setting. Kidzymphony is housed at the Meeting Street Academy in Charleston, SC, and involves 21 young children who learn to play violin, viola or cello.
Qualifications Required
- Passion for community arts education
- String Player
- Bachelor degree or higher
- Strong background in performing arts education
- Evidence of working with children, youth
- Example of created curriculum
